Sedation Dentsitry

A Full Range of Sedation Dentistry Options
If you have anxieties about dental visits, we can easily relieve all your worries with conscious sedation dentistry. No longer will shots, drills, or dental care create difficulties for you. We are among the few practices in the state that can administer both oral and IV sedation. We also provide nitrous oxide or laughing gas when lighter sedation is needed.

IV sedation takes effect most quickly and gives the highest level of sedation. We have complete control over the level of sedation administered, which is an advantage over taking a pill. With an IV, patients are not aware of the procedure and an hour will seem like a few minutes. As the medication is given directly into the bloodstream, it provides deep sedation for no memory of your visit. This sedation works well for those who need extensive work accomplished in one visit.

For lighter sedation, oral conscious sedation is the choice. By taking one pill an hour before your appointment, you will gradually reach a relaxed state while sitting in the dental chair. Your vital signs are monitored throughout the procedure, and when the work is completed, you have someone drive you home. About an hour later, you are back to normal.

Some patients have even more fear of being “put under.” You are not completely unconscious as during surgery; you are only sedated enough to not have memory of the procedure. You are in control of your perception of what goes on around you, but will be relieved of any stress to feel comfortable with any work that needs to be performed. You know the routine. You visit the dentist. You need a crown. The dentist prepares the tooth, takes an impression and installs a temporary crown. You then wait two weeks to return to the dentist, and he installs the permanent crown. And if the fit isn’t perfect, then it goes back to the lab and you wait again. And return to the dentist again.

But now, that’s all changed. Our doctors can reduce that two-week waiting period and the two or three office visits down to just a single visit with new technology! This new technology is called E4D™, a computer-aided design and milling device. E4D allows us to create a permanent crown in just a few minutes. Now, there’s no more waiting for the lab and no return trips to the dentist. Patients love it!

The E4D system allows us to repair a damaged tooth in about an hour. We no longer need to take impressions or create temporaries, and E4D enables us to satisfy patients seeking a long-lasting, esthetic alternative to silver or plastic fillings.

To make the restoration, we first paint a reflective powder over the prepared tooth. Using a special camera, we take an accurate picture of the tooth, and the picture is then displayed on a computer screen, enabling us to design the restoration. Then E4D takes over and automatically creates the restoration. Finally, we bond the new restoration to the surface of the old tooth.

All this makes going to the dentist much easier and faster.

Invisalign: Clear Dental Aligners

Orthodontics – The Clear Alternative
As a lecturer on and Premier Provider of Invisalign™ invisible aligners, Dr. Rallis is very pleased to offer his patients these innovative orthodontics that can straighten teeth in only 9 - 15 months. They work as well as traditional braces to correct overcrowding, overbite, underbite, crossbite, or widely spaced teeth.

Invisalign uses advanced 3-D computer-imaging technology to prepare your entire treatment plan from the current positioning of your teeth to your final smile. From this plan, clear thermoplastic aligners are created. These are similar to teeth-whitening trays and are custom made to exactly fit your teeth. When you place the first set of aligners, they use gentle forces to move your teeth gently into position. Approximately two weeks later, you replace them with the next set of aligners, and progress through treatment for about a year. You only need to come into the office for evaluation every four to eight weeks. Total treatment time is based on your personal needs and goals.

Boosting Your Confidence
There are some distinct advantages to the Invisalign system. The best part is that no one will know you’re straightening your teeth because the clarity of the aligners renders them almost invisible! People would have to know the aligners or there, or look extremely closely, to be able to detect them. This gives you much more confidence in your smile while you are in active treatment.

Dentists Bayside NY

Since 1989, Drs. Rallis and Chondrogiannis have served their neighbors in Bayside, NY, and the surrounding communities with clinical excellence, extraordinary customer service, and state-of-the-art care. 

Nicholas Rallis, DDS, is a clinical instructor for the New York University College of Dentistry Full Mouth Rehabilitation Continuing Dental Education Program and a speaker for Invisalign™. He graduated from NYUCD in 1988 and completed a General Practice Residency at New York Hospital Queens Medical Center. He has been in private practice since 1990, focusing on family and cosmetic dentistry. In 1994 he earned a teaching degree in Byzantine Music from the Romanos O Melodos Music Conservatory, in Athens, Greece.
Dr. Rallis enjoys directing a professional choir and participating in outdoor activities, and especially loves spending time with his family – Renee, Ross, Nicole, and Danielle. Renee and Dr. Rallis have been married for 26 years.

  

Chris Chondrogiannis, DDS, is also a clinical instructor for the NYU College of Dentistry Full Mouth Rehabilitation CDE Program. He is a graduate of the New York University College of Dentistry, where he received his dental degree and graduated on the Dean’s List. He is a member of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society. Upon degree completion, Dr. Chondrogiannis accepted a General Practice residency at the Manhattan Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center. He served as chief resident of dental services and completed a postgraduate residency in periodontics.

Dr. Chondrogiannis has extensive experience in general dentistry as well as periodontics and implantology. He is a member of the American Academy of Periodontology, American Dental Association, Northeast Society of Periodontists, New York County Dental Society, New York State Dental Association, and New York Society of Forensic Dentists, and was elected as a Fellow to the New York Academy of Dentistry. He has been honored by both the American Academy of Periodontology and the American Dental Association for his volunteer efforts following the events of September 11, 2001. He received the New Dentist Leadership Award by the NYSDA in 2003.
Dr. Chondrogiannis is married to his wife Linda of eight years, and they have two children, James and Amelia. They live in Long Island.
