Children's Dental Records

If Something Were to Happen to Your Child
Would you be able to help the police by giving them identification? As of 2009, all 50 states have implemented an AMBER alert system to help track missing children. Should something happen to your child, you could be able to assist police in their efforts by providing toothprints of your child.

Toothprints provide a means of identifying children, and, better yet, DNA and saliva samples for tracking them. Making a toothprint impression only takes a few minutes. It is comfortable for young children and will give parents peace of mind. Successive prints can be taken as your child progresses through dental changes.

Dr. Rallis feels so strongly about helping families obtain these valuable records, he is providing this service for free for all of his young patients. If something were to ever happen to a child, you will be glad you took a few minutes to obtain these vital records.

Diabetes and Your Mouth # 3: See Your Dentist Regularly

People with diabetes are prone to oral infections. You should get dental checkups at least twice a year. Let your dentist know you have diabetes and what medicines you take. Regular checkups and professional cleanings can help keep a mouth healthy. And a dentist can teach you the best ways to care for your teeth and gums at home.

Diabetes and Your Mouth # 2: Control Diabetes to Keep Your Smile

Well-controlled diabetes contributes to a healthy mouth. If you have poorly controlled or high blood sugar, your risk increases for dry mouth, gum disease, tooth loss, and fungal infections like thrush. Since infections can also make blood sugar rise, your diabetes may become even harder to control. Keeping your mouth healthy can help you manage your blood sugar.

Diabetes and Your Mouth # 1 : 4 Signs You May Have a Problem

Diabetes puts you at risk for dental problems. It impairs the ability to fight bacteria in your mouth. Having high blood sugar encourages bacteria to grow and contributes to gum disease. You may have gum disease if you have:

  • Gums that are red, sore, bleeding, or swollen, or that pull away from your teeth
  • Loose teeth
  • Chronic bad breath
  • An irregular bite or dentures that don't fit well

Dental Implants

What’s So Bad About Losing a Tooth?

The two common reasons people lose a tooth are periodontal (gum) disease and decay. Even though you won’t die because you are missing a tooth, it can have an effect on other teeth, as they will start to shift, move, or loosen. This affects your ability to chew properly and obtain vital nutrients from your food. It can become more difficult to chew, and you may start to eat softer, less natural foods that result in weight gain. Your speech may not be as clear as with a full set of teeth. Your face may take on a “sunken” look, making you look older than you are. We can replace one or many missing teeth with dental implants. They look very natural and function just like a real tooth, and they will return your confidence with a great smile.
